INDIANAPOLIS -- IUPUI issued an alert to students Wednesday following an armed break-in near campus.

The break-in occurred around 5 p.m. on the 700 block of Lockefield Street in the Lockefield Gardens apartments.

At least one person was injured as a result of the robbery, but those injuries were reportedly not serious.

The suspect was described as a black male with blue jeans, shirt with large wings on the back and a silver tattoo. Police said he was carrying a plastic gun.

No direction of travel was available.

A shelter-in-place advisory was lifted at 6 p.m. after a search of the area turned up no suspect.

This marks the third armed robbery at the apartments in the past month.
