KOKOMO, Ind. -- An early-morning crash on U.S. 31 in Tipton County claimed one life Thursday.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on U.S. 31 near State Road 28.
One vehicle was in the intersection, waiting to turn north onto 31, when a pickup truck traveling south on 31 ran the light, hit the car and hit construction barricades on the road.
The pickup truck also caught fire.
The driver of the pickup. a man in his 40s, was killed.
U.S. 31 was shut down in both directions as emergency crews responded to the scene, but it has since reopened.
Police are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
