PUTNAM COUNTY -- One person is dead after being hit by a freight train west of Indianapolis Monday.
The incident happened just before noon on CSX tracks in Putnam County.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, the victim drove their vehicle around cross arms which were in the down position. The driver then stopped on the track and got out of the vehicle before being hit by the train.
Why the victim did this is not known by police. They have not yet released the person's name.
