One person dies in northwest side Indianapolis crash

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are investigating why a vehicle went out of control and slammed into a utility pole, leaving one person dead.

The crash, involving just one car, happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at West 71st Street and Michigan Road, a busy northwest side Indianapolis intersection.

A public information officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the crash details.

Police did not say whether more than one person was in the vehicle.
