BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. -- One man was killed in a head-on collision between a semi and a pickup truck Wednesday morning in Bartholomew County.
Deputies responded to the accident at State Street near 250 E shortly after 5 a.m.'
The driver of the pickup, later identified as Michael Parris, 33, of Elizabethtown, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
His passenger, Dystiny Leonard, 26, of Columbus, was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with unknown injuries.
The semi driver, Timothy Regan, 48, of Rensselaer, told deputies he was headed east when the pickup came across the lane and he was unable to move out of the way. Regan said the pickup hit his semi head-on.
When deputies spoke with Leonard at the hospital, she told him them that Parris took his eyes off the road, his pickup crossed the median, and it was too late to get out of the path of the semi.
The road reopened around 11 a.m, meantime, the crash investigation continues.
