INDIANAPOLIS -- One person was killed in a head-on crash on I-70 eastbound near the airport Saturday afternoon.
According to the Indiana State Police, the crash happened around 3:20 p.m.
The preliminary investigation found that Martha Southwick, 75, of Terre Haute, IN was driving a van westbound on I-70 when she was hit from behind by a commercial motor vehicle which caused the van to veer to the right. Southwick then overcorrected, crossed the median, and hit a car driving eastbound head on. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was Chasity Montavo, 41, of Greenwood, IN. She and her male passenger were transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
The commercial motor vehicle did not stop.
