Two people killed in shootings within 10 miles

INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people were shot and killed in Indianapolis between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The first shooting happened in the 3100 block of North Eastern Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. 

A police officer and a K9 officer were in the area when a resident flagged them down saying they saw a man in the street. 

The man was unconscious and police were able to determine that he had been shot. 

He was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The second shooting happened in the 10000 block of Pineneedle Court around 1:30 a.m.

Police say two men were walking around near the Carriage House Apartments when they were followed inside to a vacant apartment. One man was shot multiple times inside the apartment. The other man managed to walk to a nearby relative's apartment in the same complex to call police.

The victim was later identified as Da'Michael Forrest, 18.

There was another shooting near 10th Street and Alton Road. Police found a 14-year-old victim with three gunshot wounds to his legs.

He said he was walking home when a red Chevrolet vehicle drove past him and into a parking lot. He told police the people in the car got out and began yelling at him. He began running, and was shot in the legs.

He was taken to Eskenazi Health in stable condition.

Police have not released information about potential suspects in any incident.
