INDIANAPOLIS—Busy East Washington Street at Keystone Avenue was shut down in both directions late Monday afternoon after an out-of-control vehicle went into a building.
The SUV slammed into the two-story building at the northwest corner of Washington and Keystone after 4 p.m.
People who live on the second floor were evacuated by firefighters. It was not clear whether the driver of the vehicle was injured.
Damage to the building was significant, with the SUV partially inside the structure.
Why the vehicle went out of control is under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department.
