OWEN COUNTY, Ind. -- A rural humane society is overrun and asking for help after taking in 83 animals from a hoarding situation last week.

The Owen County Humane Society says the animals were found living in mud and feces and in enclosures without light or ventilation.

The animals seized include:

  • 29 pot bellied pigs
  • 2 ducks
  • 7 chickens
  • 1 rooster
  • 1 guinea pig
  • 6 dogs
  • 5 puppies
  • 7 rabbits
  • 11 goats
  • 7 cats
  • 7 kittens

The goats were sent to a rescue in Spencer.

To help with the care of these animals, the Owen County Humane Society is accepting monetary donations and donations of supplies including bleach and paper towels.

The humane society says they need $4,800 to help the pigs. Those donations would be used for rescue, resources and spay and neuter.
