INDIANAPOLIS—Many fall festivals have been canceled due to the pandemic. But a popular one in downtown Indianapolis is still happening this Saturday.
The Athenaeum Foundation is hosting a celebration of German heritage and its contributions to modern Hoosier culture. GermanFest has been changed around this year to meet COVID-19 restrictions. The festival features a German-style farmers market.
It's from noon to 6 p.m. at the Athenaeum parking lot, 401 East Michigan Street.
More than 15 vendors, various special events, art exhibits, and two bands that will perform on the Biergarten Stage. Tours of the historic building will also take place.
Built in 1894, the Athenaeum, serves as a community center for many cultural, business and nonprofit groups, including the YMCA, Young Actors Theatre and The Rathskeller restaurant.
