KOKOMO, Ind. -- More than a year after a fire destroyed a popular Kokomo restaurant, the owner of PASTAriffic fulfilled his promise to re-open at a "grand re-opening" celebration over the weekend.

The business was destroyed by a fire in March 2017. Heavy winds that day made the fire spread more quickly than normal and it took firefighters nearly three hours to get the flames out.

The building was built in 1990, but the restaurant has been in business since the late 1980s.

"It's hard to put into words," said PASTArrific owner Cynthia Yazdani told RTV6 after the fire. "This was our dream, and we will dream again."

PASTAriffic held their grand re-opening celebration this past weekend and the city of Kokomo said the restaurant is "back and better than ever!"

They officially re-opened for business at 11 a.m. Monday.
