the driver of the SUV exited onto Post Road and made a U-turn, heading back towards the interstate. That's when police say he got onto the entrance ramp and began driving eastbound on the westbound shoulder of the interstate.

Just west of the Keystone/Rural exit police say the driver slammed his SUV into the back of another vehicle, causing a chain reaction crash involving 5 vehicles.

The male driver, who has not been identified, exited the SUV and ran north across multiple lanes of traffic. After a brief foot pursuit the man was apprehended outside Hoosier Gasket on Enterprise Parkway.

During a search of the suspects vehicle, detectives located a small amount of suspected narcotics and bundles of money throughout the vehicle. The suspect also had a large amount of cash in his pockets at the time of arrest. He told officers that he was out of prison on parole from California and feared returning to prison for another arrest.

He was preliminarily arrested for resisting law enforcement and possession of a narcotic drug.

Of the other vehicles involved in the crash, IMPD says two of the drivers were uninjured and two of them sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for over an hour while crews worked to clear up the scene. They have since been reopened.
