INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman has died after being shot while driving on the city's west side.
Officers were called to the 11000 block of Winfield Avenue just before 11 p.m. Monday after several calls of gunshots, a crash and car alarms.
Police said the victim, identified as Charese Zinnerman, 22, was driving north on Belleview when she was shot, causing her to crash. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she later died.
Police say the shots appear to have gone through the passenger side door,
A child between 5 and 7 years old who was also in the car was not injured and was placed in protective custody.
Detectives don't know whether the woman was targeted or if this was a random act of violence.
