CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. -- A man was killed after he jumped from a van driving on I-65 and was hit by possibly two vehicles on Friday afternoon.
Indiana State Police said 23-year-old Lukas James Holm-Hansen of Demontte, IN, who was a passenger in a minivan, jumped out of it for an unknown reason.
He crawled across the northbound lanes and into the median. Troopers say he then crawled under the cable barriers and into the southbound lanes.
The driver of Jeep Grand Cherokee tried to avoid hitting the man and was rear-ended by a Dodge Grand Caravan which was then rear-ended by a Chevy Cavalier.
Troopers say it appears the Jeep and the Grand Caravan both hit the victim and he was pinned underneath the minivan.
No one else was injured.
Police are interviewing the driver of the van to figure out why the man jumped.
All lanes of I-65 at the 158MM/158 exit are closed due to a fatal crash. Seek alternative routes of travel.

All lanes of I-65, which were closed during the investigation, reopened around five hours after the initial accident.
