BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY — A woman was struck and killed by a semi on I-65 in between Columbus and Seymour early Monday morning.

Indiana State Police were called to the scene in a construction zone on I-65 just north of the Bartholomew-Jackson County line around 3:45 a.m.

Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting pronounced the female pedestrian dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

Nolting said the passenger vehicle the woman was believed to be driving had apparently become stuck in a muddy area of the median a short distance from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.

Bartholomew County-Troopers are on the scene of a serious crash on I-65 Southbound near the 58 mm. I-65 SB is currently shut down at exit 64. Use SR 11 or US 31 as an alternate route.
