INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian was hit and killed on I-465 on the city's east side Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near the I-70 interchange just before 6 a.m.
Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine says a semi and a vehicle had gotten into an accident a little ways up the road. For an unknown reason, a person from the vehicle took off walking down the interstate.
That person was struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to Perrine, and pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
Perrine says they are unsure why the pedestrian was walking along the interstate.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The semi driver also stayed on scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation by ISP.
