INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have released the name of an elderly man who was the victim of a hit-and-run driver on Indianapolis' northwest side Thursday morning.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. at the 5500 block of Michigan Road just south of Kessler Boulevard.
Police say Horace Rounds, 89, left the Walmart Neighborhood Market and was trying to cross Michigan Road when he was hit by a green car.
A woman walking her dog found Rounds' body in a ditch about two-and-a-half hours after the crash.
Officers say Rounds had visible signs of trauma to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rounds was killed just six days before his 90th birthday.
Police are looking for a green 1997-1998 Ford Expedition or 1997-1998 Ford F-150 with heavy front end damage, a cracked windshield and deployed airbags.
