INDIANAPOLIS — A 35-year-old Pendleton man will go to prison for a 2018 murder in Lawrence that police were at a loss to understand.
On the second day of his bench trial in Marion County Criminal Court, Judge Mark Stoner found Richard Chambers guilty of murder.
He'll be sentenced in June.
In March of last year, 41-year-old Brad McKinney or Mooresville went to the Lawrence home of a man he knew to purchase a drone.
Richard Chambers was a guest in the home at the time.
For reasons that were never clear, Lawrence police say Chambers shot McKinney in the head as the transaction was being completed.
Chambers ran from the scene, but a Lawrence police officer who was in the area and heard two gunshots was able to track Chambers down and make an arrest.
