INDIANAPOLIS -- A man is dead after a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis.
Police say the shooting happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 1900 block of N. Centennial Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man inside the side entrance of the house with one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
This marks the 100th homicide in Indianapolis in 2015.
More than a fifth of them (22) have been under the age of 21. Four of them weren't even old enough to get their driver's licenses. The youngest was 3-month-old Janna Rivera, whose father now faces murder charges in her death.
If the rate of homicides per month continues, Indianapolis is now on track to reach 132 homicides for the year, two fewer than last year’s total.
