Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run on Indy's northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS – A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run on the city’s northwest side Tuesday evening.

According to a spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened near the intersection of 52nd Street and Lafayette Road.

Police say a red 2002 Dodge Neon hit the motorcyclist, then went eastbound on 52nd Street.

The 35-year-old motorcyclist was unresponsive at the scene when officers arrived. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The Marion County Coroner identified him as Sultan Ariff. 

Police are still looking for the Dodge Neon. It has Indiana plate XVQ562 and passenger-side damage.
