The ninth annual Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent Celebration of Caring Gala was held Saturday.
“Peyton Manning’s success on the football field is legendary, but for the patients of the hospital that bears his name, his impact goes well beyond the playing field,” Jonathan Nalli, chief executive officer of St. Vincent, said in a press release.
The gala has raised more than $8 million for the children’s hospital since 2008.
“In the 18 years since Peyton joined the St. Vincent team, his commitment and involvement have grown in the form of outspoken advocacy for children’s health initiatives, personal outreach to young patients and their families and tremendous financial support. His focus has long been on the work of helping young people in need of support, and for that, he has already entered our Hall of Fame," Nalli said.
Peyton and Ashley Manning served as the honorary chairpersons for the gala, which was attended by nearly 1,100 people.
“It truly has been one of the best teams I’ve ever been on. I’ve been on a lot a great teams, but to be part of one where doctors, nurses and staff members are doing everything they can to support and help kids get better has been a true honor," Manning said.
