A small plane made an emergency landing on I-65 in Jackson County Saturday.

Around 11:30 a.m., the Indiana State Police responded to a report of a plane landing on I-65 near the 42 mile marker between Seymour and Crothersville, Indiana.

According to a press release from ISP, the initial investigation found that a 1967 Beechcraft Bonanza was flying from Carmel to Louisville when the plane started having mechanical difficulties. The pilot, Aaron Wright of Carmel, turned the plane around to try to get to the Seymour airport. When he realized he would not make it, he tried to land the plane on the southbound lanes of I-65.

The plane landed and then entered the median where it stopped.

Wright, his wife, and their 13-year-old son were in the plane. No one was injured.

Both directions of I-65 were slow for approximately three hours. The northbound lanes of I-65 were shut down for about an hour to remove the plane.
