INDIANAPOLIS -- The City of Lawrence has plans to make a dangerous intersection safer.
Last Friday, a SUV crashed into an office building at 46th and Emerson owned by Swift Air Mechanical.
"The next thing I know, I was on the other side of the room facing that direction looking at Chris laying on the floor and my first thought was seeing paperwork flying through the air was that we got hit by a bomb," said Mary Darling, employee of Swift Air.
Mary is now using a walker and her co-worker also was hurt.
The woman who was behind the wheel of the SUV, 24-year-old Jayme Belk, was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Belk was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
The owner of Swift Air says drivers have crashed into his property six times in the last 15 years.
Lawrence Police Officer Craig Hebert was killed at the same intersection during a 2005 police chase.
The mayor of Lawrence says the city's plan to rebuild the intersection was derailed by the loss of federal funds.
It will be three to five years before that work is complete.
In the meantime, the city plans to install flashing lights and a concrete berm so drivers can't turn left.
