LAWRENCE — Following a traffic stop by a Lawrence Police Department officer on Pendleton Pike, a chase ensued that led to a crash on Interstate 465 on Thursday night.
According to Lawrence Police Department Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff, an officer stopped the suspect on Franklin Road. After a momentary stop, the suspect fled from the officer in the vehicle, headed west toward Interstate 465.
After a brief car chase, the suspect crashed into another vehicle on the highway at which point they fled the scene on foot. Police did catch the suspect, according to Woodruff, and have since taken the individual into custody.
The driver fled because they thought a warrant was out on them, police say. Police can confirm that the driver did not have a warrant.
The victims hit as a result of the chase have non-life-threatening injuries. The victims experienced a temporary entrapment but no serious injuries occurred.
