INDIANAPOLIS – Six apartments were damaged during a fire police believe was intentionally set, on Indy’s northwest side early Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to The Woods Apartments shortly before 6 a.m. after the fire broke out in the hallway of an apartment unit.
Three people inside the unit were rescued from a third-floor balcony and were checked on scene for injuries. They were said to be “OK” by medics but were taken to the hospital for additional assessment.
The fire was contained to the hallway of the unit, but the six units were damaged by heavy smoke, said fire crews.
Firefighters and Indianapolis police said they are investigating the cause behind the fire.
