Police looking for suspect who broke into police cruiser, 15 other vehicles in New Palestine

NEW PALESTINE, Ind. – Indiana State Police are searching for a person who broke into a state police cruiser and then broke into dozens of other vehicles as well.

Investigators say the suspect went into the Bristol Ridge subdivision in New Palestine Wednesday night and broke into 15 vehicles.

Indiana State Police said several of the vehicles were unlocked and although victims noticed signs of a break-in, often times nothing was stolen, including electronics.

Other vehicles has busted windows.

In two vehicles, a wallet was taken but one of them was found nearby with only cash missing.

An unmarked, locked ISP pick-up truck was also broken into by smashing out the driver's side window.

The suspect stole a personally-owned handgun but no police equipment was taken, police say.

Surveillance video has been released by state police.
