INDIANAPOLIS — Wednesday's shooting of a 13-year-old boy at a northeast side Indianapolis apartment complex was an accident.
That's the conclusion of detectives investigating the afternoon incident near East 42nd Street and North Post Road.
The boy remains in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children, but is expected to survive.
Police were called to an apartment at 4015 Windhill Drive after receiving calls that a person had been shot.
The neighborhood is among the most violent in the city.
At the scene, IMPD Public Information Officer Genae Cook said other children and adults were inside the apartment when the shooting took place. But police have not released more specifics about how the shooting happened.
