INDIANAPOLIS – Anderson police and SWAT crews were called to a home Wednesday morning after they learned a wanted suspect was inside.
Police arrived at a home in the 2200 block of Halford Street around 9:50 a.m. in hopes of arresting 30-year-old Rayshawn Ross, who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. Ross' family said he was accused of shooting someone.
When Ross did not immediately surrender, SWAT crews were put on standby.
During the standoff, Ross' girlfriend and two children, ages 5 and 6 were inside.
Family members, along with police continued to ask Ross to come out of the house.
“I’m praying, please come out with your hands up,” said Ross’ aunt Jackquella Jones. “I don’t want it to be another tragic situation.”
Ross surrendered three hours late, police said.
Officers said the situation was resolved peacefully and the suspect was arrested. SWAT crews were not needed.
