INDIANAPOLIS -- At least one person is dead after police were called out to two serious accidents Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of West 10th Street and Whitcomb Avenue on the city's west side around 10:45 p.m. for a serious accident involving at least two vehicles.

The passenger of one of the cars was taken to Eskenazi Health, where he died. The drivers of the two vehicles were in good condition.

Police don't believe intoxication was a factor.

Around 10:30 p.m. police were called to the area of Mooresville Road on the city's southwest side after a man was struck by a vehicle.

Investigators believe the man was lying in the road when a passerby saw and stopped to check on him. Before the passerby could get to him, a car traveling north struck him.

Police believe the victim was on some type of intoxicant. Both the passerby and the driver are cooperating with police.

Police say the man was taken to Eskenazi Health in critical condition.
