RICHMOND — A man charged with driving his SUV into Black Lives Matter protesters in Wayne County last year will not go on trial.

Court records show that 29-year-old Joshua Carey is entering a pre-trial diversion program that could lead to the misdemeanor charged in the case being dropped.

Carey was charged with driving into the protesters in Richmond in September 2020 and leaving the scene. One protester suffered minor injuries.
