INDIANAPOLIS—A large abandoned apartment complex that's been a blight on the Indianapolis northeast side for some time may be coming down soon.
With more than 300 units, the Oaktree Apartments at East 42nd Street and North Post Road has been home to crime, fire and vandalism since its last residents were evicted in 2014.
It is located in one of the city's most violent neighborhoods.
A judge has ordered the complex's owners to tear it down, but that hasn't happened yet.
The City-County Council is expected to approve about $1.2 million dollars for the demolition at its Monday meeting.
The city would take over the property and then consider new uses for the land.
