Body of sailor who was killed in a military plane crash returned to Indiana Thursday

MIDDLETOWN, Ind. (AP) -- A military procession through part of Indiana will accompany the remains of one of 16 service members killed when their refueling plane crashed July 10 in Mississippi.
 
Thursday's procession for Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Ryan Lohrey will start about 6:30 p.m. at Indianapolis International Airport.
 
It will pass through Middletown where Lohrey formerly lived and continue to Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
 
People are urged to gather along the route around 7 p.m. to honor Lohrey.  
 
Here are the details:
  • I-70 to the Knightstown exit
  • North on State Road 109 into Anderson
  • East on State Road 236 into Middletown
  • Turn right on 8th Street
  • Locust Street and turn left
  • 5th Street and turn right
  • 5th/Raider Rd. to State Road 36
  • State Road 3 and head south to Sproles Family Funeral Home at 2400 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle
The 30-year-old was a football standout at Shenandoah High School. 
 
 
A visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 31 at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services are to start at 4 p.m.
 
Lohrey's body is to be cremated.
