INDIANAPOLIS — Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears will not file charges against 41 non-violent protesters arrested in downtown Indianapolis this past Saturday and Friday.

Mears announced Monday that each arrest was reviewed on a "case-by-case" basis.

“We will not file criminal charges against those who came downtown to stand against injustice and make their voices heard through peaceful demonstrations,” Prosecutor Ryan Mears stated. “For us, the unfortunate choices by a few will not dilute the critical message carried by the majority.”

14 suspects allegedly involved in looting from downtown businesses are facing burglary charges.

Mears is also steering those who have allegations of improper conduct by city police officers to contact the Citizens’ Police Complaint Office. The complaint office is an independent city office which provides a way for complaints against sworn officers to be investigated.
