INDIANAPOLIS — A private memorial service will be held for a mother and two twins who were killed earlier this month in a crash on I-465.
Bishop Robert Petersen of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said in a statement Monday night the memorial service for Alanna, June and Ruby Koons will be limited to family and friends, but members of the public can express condolences to the family by sending an email to koonsmemories@gmail.com.
Koons, 29, and her 18-month-old twin daugthers Ruby and June, were killed July 14 when a semi slammed into stopped traffic on I-465 in a construction zone near Keystone Avenue.
Petersen's full statement is below:
"All of us in Alanna and Joey's families are profoundly touched by the tremendous outpouring of love, kindness and respect from our friends and loved ones, members of the public and the media in the wake of this tragic accident. We pray for physical and emotional healing for everyone involved. We trust that all will continue to honor our request for privacy as we hold a private memorial service for family and friends to lay Alanna, June and Ruby to rest. Members of the public who wish to express condolences directly to the family may do so by sending them to koonsmemories@gmail.com. We will add each message to a memory book being compiled in honor of Alanna and the twins."
