INDIANAPOLIS – A puppy was found tied up in a trash bag near a dumpster on Indy’s east side this week.
Darren Forkel, who maintains Charleston East Apartments, said he found the clear bag tied in a knot on the side of the dumpster after a neighbor noticed the bag moving.
"I proceeded to open it and I found a little terrier puppy,” he said.
The puppy, who had been sharing another trash bag with discarded food, was skinny and weak, but alive Forkel said.
"I could not believe somebody would do something like that, and at that point I was honestly ready to choke somebody you know, it made me very mad,” said Forkel.
The puppy was rushed to Indianapolis Animal Care Services, but veterinarians said despite their efforts, the puppy had to be put down.
Animal Care Services staff said despite the situation, there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue a case on who left the puppy inside the trash bag.
