WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The skies over Purdue University were buzzing Saturday with the sound of drones.
Students from 27 universities took part in the first-ever Collegiate Drone Racing National Championship in West Lafayette.
48 homemade drones flew in gusty winds through a winding course.
Georgia Tech took the title and more than $15,000 in equipment and prizes.
Students from UC Berkeley came in second.
In third, the drone from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
And the host school, Purdue, came in fourth in the competition.
