WEST LAFAYETTE — A professor from Purdue University has caught the attention of the Pope with his work on the future of sustainable energy.

John Sheffield is a professor of engineering technology. He's been studying the use of hydrogen as an alternative energy source to help relieve climate change.

Sheffield and a delegation are headed overseas to meet with Pope Francis.

They will discuss the hydrogen energy technologies in a private audience on Friday.
