Aaron Lai started the walk on Sunday morning with the mission of making it on time for the Purdue vs. IU basketball game, with a tip-off time of 7 p.m.
He made it with more than enough time to spare, and a warm embrace by Tyler Trent's parents.
Lai tweeted out to Trent's parents, "It humbling to honor your son."
The Michigan native started the walk with a mission of raising $10,000 for Tyler Trent's Cancer Research Endowment. He surpassed that by almost $9,000.
According to the GoFundMe page, all donations will be matched by the Walther Cancer Foundation.
Trent passed away on Jan. 1 after his courageous fight with bone cancer.
Trent is known as the Purdue super fan who impacted the entire nation with his philanthropic work.
