21-year-old arrested with over $300K in marijuana, marijuana oil during Putnam County traffic stop

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. -- A 21-year-old is in jail after police found over $300,000 worth of marijuana and marijuana oil during a traffic stop in Putnam County early Wednesday morning. 

An Indiana State Police trooper pulled over a speeding vehicle on I-70 just before 11 a.m. near the 35 mile marker. 

During a search of the vehicle, the trooper recovered a duffel bag full of suspected marijuana in the back seat and three other duffel bags full of suspected marijuana and drugs in the trunk. 

In all, the trooper found approximately 75 pounds of suspected marijuana, 300 vials of suspected marijuana oil, and a suspected Oxycontin tablet. 

State police said the estimated street value of the marijuana was $337,000 and the marijuana oil is worth approximately $16,500.

The driver, Thomas Lee King, 21, told the trooper he was traveling from Colorado to Ohio. He's preliminarily charged with possession of marijuana over 10 pounds, dealing marijuana over 10 pounds, possession of a controlled substance and operating while intoxicated.
