PUTNAM COUNTY — The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has confirmed on social media that Britney Gard, a missing mother, was found on Wednesday night. Gard was last seen on September 30.
WRTV spoke with Gard's brother-in-law, who confirmed she was found.
According to the post, around 5:30 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call from Gard, asking for help to find her way out of a wooded area in Hall Woods Nature Preserve east of Bainbridge.
Gard was quickly found by deputies, around 2.5 miles from her residence.
Officials said she was checked out by paramedics and then transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
The Sheriff's Office is not currently looking for any people of interest.
"It is with great relief that we were able to find Ms. Gard last evening and bring this missing person case to a close," Putnam County Sheriff's Office wrote. "We would like to thank her family and all of the organizations that worked with us around the clock on this missing person case. Please continue to keep Britney, her family, and all emergency personnel in your prayers."
The case is still under investigation.
