Re-assessment reveals there have been 23 cases of Zika virus in Indiana

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS – We're just learning the number of Hoosiers who have brought the Zika virus back to Indiana is far more than previously believed – nearly 50 percent more.

It was previously believed there were 15 cases of Zika that had been brought back to Indiana from abroad.

Now we know there have actually been 23 cases.

The Indiana Department of Health says that number of 15 that was reported wasn’t correct simply due to some data issues.

And it’s important to note, some of these new cases didn’t necessarily happen last month: Some occurred as far back as last year.

Even so, we’re noticing companies like Mosquito Shield capitalizing on the anxieties, getting a huge boost in the number of people wanting to have their yards sprayed for mosquitoes.
