INDIANAPOLIS -- The woman police say was driving a Tesla last November when it crashed and burst into flames, killing her and her passenger, had a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit.
The accident report by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says Casey Speckman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.21 percent at the time of the crash.
You are considered to be over the limit in Indiana if you have a BAC of at least 0.08 percent.
Speckman, 27, was driving north on Illinois Street when the Tesla left the road, hit a tree and a building and caught fire. She was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, and the owner of the Tesla, Kevin McCarthy, 44, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police do not know how fast the car was traveling at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
