GARY, Ind. -- A Gary teen that was at the center of an Amber Alert earlier this week is now charged in connection with the death of her mother.
According to the Times of Northwest Indiana, Chastinea Reeves, 15, is being detained at the juvenile center in Gary on charges in connection with the death of Jamie Garnett, 34.
Garnett was found dead at her home around 2:10 a.m. Monday morning. Her death was ruled a homicide.
An Amber Alert was issued Monday morning for Reeves after police had said her mother was the victim of a violent crime.
Reeves was located in Gary on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lake County Prosecutor told the Times of Northwest Indiana that his office is seeking a waiver from a juvenile court to move the case to adult court.
