INDIANAPOLIS --  A new report says over 20 percent of Hoosiers 18 years and older are regular smokers, that's over five percent more than the national average.

The most recent figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that just over 15 percent of adults in the United States smoke cigarettes on a regular basis, that's down from 20.9 percent in 2005.

It also seems where you live in the U.S. has an impact on how likely you are to smoke. The most smoke-free state is Utah, where only 9.1 percent of adults admit to the habit.

On the other end of the scale, Kentucky has the highest number of tobacco users with 26 percent of those living in the state admitting to the habit.

The survey is based on adults 18 years or older who reported smoking at least 100 cigarettes during their lifetime and who, at the time of the survey, smoked regularly.
