Riggs: IMPD will use data to fight crime

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- In a packed auditorium at IUPUI, incoming IMPD Chief Troy Riggs presented a numerical picture of crime in Indianapolis.

Looking at this year's near-historic homicide rate, Riggs said 112 victims had local criminal histories. Between them, they accounted for 456 adult felony arrests.

Riggs said as chief he will begin the process of using data and intelligence as a new way to fight crime in the city. He also said doing mass arrests isn't the answer.

Call 6 Investigator Paris Lewbel attended Riggs' presentation Wednesday. Watch his report in the video player above for more.
