Roof blown off assisted living facility on Indy's south side

INDIANAPOLIS -- Strong winds blew the roof off an apartment building on Indy's south side Wednesday.

Firefighters were called out to the Bethany Village Assisted Living at 3530 S. Shelby St.

In addition to the roof, all 65 units sustained water damage.

Damage is estimated at $1.5 million.

No one was hurt.

IFD says 70 residents were relocated to other American Senior Communities.

"The resident are successfully settling into their temporary home and we are working diligently to ensure the residents can return to their apartments as quickly as possible," said Sherri Davies, American Senior Communities.
