On Tuesday, Joey Feek was laid to rest.

"In a grove of sassafras trees behind our farmhouse, with friends and family gathered around, we said goodbye to the greatest person I have ever known," Rory Feek wrote on his blog.
The service was held in their barn/concert hall. Rory wrote the last time they were on that stage, they were singing together.
He wrote that when the time was through and thought he couldn't cry anymore tears, they played a video celebrating Joey's life.
"And my tears were replaced by smiles and laughter and joy and more tears," he wrote.

He said when most of the guests had gone, he took a short walk with Indy to the backfield to see Joey one more time.
He finished the post by writing, "And then we took a deep breath and did what Joey would want us to do. We remembered that she's still with us. She'll always be with us. In our hearts. Forever."
A public memorial service for Joey Feek will be held in her hometown of Alexandria on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
