Rough road conditions concern west side Indy drivers

INDIANAPOLIS — A group of potholes on a busy west side Indianapolis road are so bad, drivers consider it a safety hazard.

The potholes are on Bridgeport Road, south of Rockville Road at the spot where Bridgeport goes under a railroad bridge.

It's a narrow road to begin with, and with so many potholes on both sides under the bridge, drivers have to go into opposing traffic to avoid them.

"You'll break a rim, get a tire," said driver Mark Clay. "I was telling my wife yesterday, I hope they go in and fix this or just pave it off, but it's horrible."

"I have to swerve on the other side of the lane and then sometimes, it might cause an accident." said Jeremy Camper, another Bridgeport motorist.

RTV6 reached out to the Indianapolis Department of Public Works to find out when the road might be repaired.

There was no specific time, just this statement: "Our team will be able to to plan accordingly and fill potholes in that area, as when residents submit requests it helps to inform our work orders for our crews. We have crews filling potholes today (Friday) as well as the weekend."
