INDIANAPOLIS — Two intersections in Franklin Township will be closed while roundabouts are built in both locations.

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced Thursday that the project will close the intersection of Franklin Road and Edgewood Avenue beginning Tuesday, while the intersection of Arlington and Edgewood Avenues will close June 3.

Each closure is expected to last fewer than 60 days, weather permitting.

DPW encourages drivers to follow the coordinated detour routes. Drivers traveling east or westbound on Edgewood Avenue should detour north to Thompson Road.

People driving north or southbound on Arlington Avenue should detour west to Emerson Avenue, while those traveling north or southbound on Franklin Road should go east to Hickory Road.

The projects are the first of four roundabouts that will be constructed in Franklin Township this year. Work is expected to begin in August on roundabouts at Franklin and Thompson Roads and at Arlington Avenue and Shelbyville Road.
