Ryder's Plainfield facility will change hands in July; over 430 jobs impacted

PLAINFIELD — Ryder Integrated Logistics will cease operations at its Plainfield facility in July, however, according to a company spokeswoman another service provider will reportedly take over operations.

The company filed a 60-day WARN Notification with the state of Indiana on May 10. According to the filing, the company is closing the facility at 2801 Airwest Boulevard in Plainfield as of July 12, 2019.

The notice states that approximately 436 employees will be laid off due to the closure.

In a statement released to RTV6 on Monday afternoon, Ryder said the facility was not closing but Ryder would no longer be operating the Plainfield location. Ryder says the new service provider has offered jobs to all but one of the current employees at the facility.

Ryder released the following statement to RTV6 about the closure of their Plainfield facility:

"Due to a customer’s changing business needs, Ryder will no longer operate the facility located at 2801 Airwest Blvd., Plainfield, IN, effective July 12, 2019. The customer at that facility is transitioning to a new service provider. Ryder is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for the customer and its new service provider, which will continue operations at the facility. Of the 436 employees at the facility, all but one employee have been offered positions with the new service provider or redeployed to another Ryder facility."
